How to write 1,300,000 in words
The number 1,300,000 is written “one million three hundred thousand” in British English.
The simplest method is to read the figure in groups of three digits from the left and name each group:
- 1,000,000 is 1 in the millions place, so we write “one million”.
- 300,000 is 300 in the thousands place, so we write “three hundred thousand”.
- Join the groups in order, without “and” between them: “one million three hundred thousand”.
In running text the number is normally lowercase: “the fee is one million three hundred thousand pounds”. At the start of a sentence, in a heading, or on a legal document it takes capitals: One Million Three Hundred Thousand. Formal documents often give both forms together, for example “one million three hundred thousand (1,300,000)”, so that a reader can check one against the other.

One Million Three Hundred Thousand in figures

In expanded form: 1,000,000 + 300,000 = 1,300,000.
Commas go after every third digit counting from the right: 1,300,000. In Britain and the United States this is the standard grouping; in much of Europe the same number appears as 1.300.000, and international scientific style uses spaces: 1 300 000.
